Intensive Training for all Engineers

Training in 2010 is as high on our agenda at Gate-A-Mation as it has ever been. Each one of our foremen has been on training courses and all have been with us at least 10 years. So, given the vast amount of experience and knowledge that they have all gained, they are designated as in-house trainers for new and existing staff and engineers. In addition to in-house training selected staff and all of our engineers are placed on as many manufacturer training courses as time allows.

With the ever changing range of products coming into our market the role that our foremen perform and the training that staff and engineers undergo is essential to our business and to the quality of the service we provide.

Just over 20 years ago when we started out, there was just a handful of manufacturers representing their products in the UK. Today there are dozens of companies offering their own range of goods. Add this to the list of updated, replacement and new products each company introduces each year and you have a minefield of options available.

Some of these are, and some are not, compatible with each other. An engineer trying to repair a system often faces these issues and needs to have full support to identify the right product for the right result.

Most systems installed contain products from different manufacturers.  This, in itself, is not a problem but it can complicate issues when a repair is necessary. Therefore, our engineers need to have training on all manufacturers’ products so that the system can be left working as quickly and efficiently as possible.

All of our staff and engineers has full support from the Gate-A-Mation management team to obtain the best level of training and support. This, in recent years, has been demonstrated with the introduction of a paperless system for each service engineer and the ability to provide each with full technical data and manufacturer assistance on site.

As already stated, in-house training and manufacturers’ training is given to each engineer on a regular basis and additionally, an intense training and induction process is provided for all new staff over a period of six months to a year. This is a large investment and is reflected in the quality of our engineering workforce at  Gate-A-Mation.
