We are often asked: We brought this kit online, can you fit it for us? Our answer is not so simple: Probably, but it is likely not to be completely right for the job you will eventually want it to perform.

What do you mean, we were led to believe it was easy! Putting an operator on a gate may seem easy; it’s the consequences of doing so, that are what makes it more difficult!

Why? Is the reply. There are lots of other things that need to be done for the system to work reliably and if the kit is not totally right, then it will not work correctly! Also most kits do not include everything that will be required and by their very nature, be of questionable quality or type, for what is suitable for each unique sites needs.

Assuming it is all ok, how much will it cost? The odds on it being truly complete and ok, are hundreds to one. Also, as we have not provided the kit, we can not accept any responsibility for it in any way! This means everything that goes wrong will be down to you and you will be required to pay for it to be both worked upon and if necessary replaced. All carriage costs and investigation expenses, together with any equipment controls or items attached, that are damaged or become faulty as a result of failure of any of the original kit, are to be chargeable and not warrantable accordingly.

What if it is not all complete or right for our job? That’s easy, send it back and ask for a refund! It is always better to know what you are letting yourself in for, than to drive down the road of never ending expense!

That sound harsh? Honesty often does! But that is our policy. With legislation growing and issues arising from personal injury, we feel it is our obligation to give customers sound advice, even if they do not want to hear it, nor wish to use us.

Have you ever succeeded with fitting someone else’s kit to an acceptable result? Yes very much so, but it costs far more than the client first thought and they wish they had called us in sooner.

What else should I know? It is best to read a good system ‘Design Guide’ and see all that you need to have catered for and invest in, before you buy!
